About the role

The postholder will undertake high quality research and produce high-impact publications as part of a research project examining maladaptive thinking patterns in depression by combining computational modelling and magnetoencephalography (MEG). Main duties involve developing tasks and computational analyses for use with MEG to probe how internal representations and interpretations driving decisions and emotional states evolve at a high temporal resolution.

This post is available for 1 year as maternity cover.

About you

Candidates should have a strong background in:

  • Neuroimaging (ideally MEG/EEG)
  • Decision-making
  • Reinforcement learning and / or machine learning

Clinical experience in the field of psychotherapy, psychiatry or related fields is desirable.

A Ph.D. in neuroscience, psychology, or a quantitative field (e.g., computer science, engineering, physics) or equivalent is required along with expertise using computational approaches in the study of human reinforcement learning and decision making and/or expertise with machine learning techniques. Expertise in magnetoencephalography or related neuroimaging techniques and
Knowledge of statistical methods (e.g. Bayesian statistics) and their computational implementation is required.
